This Privacy Policy explains how Kairuotu Technology (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. ("Kairuotu", "we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, stores, and protects your personal information when you use the Tabii browser extension (the "Extension" or "Service"). Please read this policy carefully before using Tabii.

1. User Data Collection

We collect the following categories of data. We only collect data when you actively use specific features—we do not automatically monitor or record your browsing in the background.

1.1 Account Information

When you register for a Tabii account, we collect your mobile phone number (with country/region code) and verification code to verify your identity and manage your account.

1.2 Browser Tab Data

When you click the "Clean" or "One-Click Clean" button, we collect: tab URLs, tab titles, and organizational structures. Tab titles and URLs are stored locally on your device. Tab data may be transmitted to our servers over encrypted connections when you use AI-powered features (e.g., visual search, clustering).

1.3 OpenGraph Thumbnail Data

To generate descriptive labels for your tabs, Tabii extracts OpenGraph metadata (title, description, thumbnail images) from web pages you have open. This data is transmitted to our servers over encrypted connections for real-time AI processing. We do not persistently store this thumbnail data beyond the immediate processing request, and we do not use it for advertising, profiling, or any purpose beyond generating your tab descriptions.

1.4 Image Data

When you clean tabs or use visual search, we may process tab thumbnails to extract: color information (Hex codes), image captions, design style tags, and object identification. This enables visual search (e.g., searching by "ballet" to find ballet-related pages).

1.5 Search Queries

When you use the AI/visual search feature, we collect the text you type (e.g., "ballet", "black tech style") to generate semantic search results. We do not use search queries for advertising or profiling.

1.6 User Profile

If you complete profile setup, we collect your nickname and avatar URL.

1.7 Device & Technical Data

We collect device ID (generated), platform, extension version, language, and trace ID for API requests. This supports authentication, debugging, and service stability.

1.8 User Preferences

We store your preferences (canvas zoom level, view mode, clustering settings) locally on your device.

Important: Data collection occurs only when you actively trigger an action (e.g., click "Clean", use search, log in). We do not passively collect or monitor your browsing behavior.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide, operate, and maintain the Tabii Service;
• Verify your identity and manage your account;
• Process tab metadata in real time to generate AI-powered labels and summaries;
• Improve and optimize the functionality and performance of the Service;
• Communicate with you regarding updates, support, or policy changes;
• Comply with applicable legal obligations.

3. Data Handling (How We Process Your Data)

We process your data as follows:

• Tab & OpenGraph Data: When you clean tabs, we extract metadata from the pages you have open. URLs and metadata may be sent to our backend for OpenGraph fetching and AI processing. We use this to build visual cards.
• Image Analysis: Tab thumbnails may be sent to our backend for AI processing (e.g., Qwen-VL) to generate captions and extract colors, styles, and objects for visual search.
• Search Queries: Your search text is sent to our backend to generate semantic/visual search results. We do not use search queries for advertising or profiling.
• Authentication: Your phone number and verification code are sent to our authentication service and SMS provider to verify your identity.
• Retention: Data sent for AI processing is used only for the specific request and is not permanently stored. Local data remains on your device until you clear it or uninstall.

4. Data Storage (Where Your Data Is Stored)

We store your data in the following locations:

• Chrome Storage Local: Sessions, tab metadata (URLs, titles, OpenGraph data), auth token, user profile, device ID, preferences. Stored on your device until you clear extension data or uninstall.
• IndexedDB (browser local database): Tab thumbnails, extracted colors, image captions. Stored on your device until you clear site/extension data or uninstall.
• Our Backend Servers: Authentication records (phone hash, user ID), session IDs. Tab URLs and metadata are sent for processing but not permanently stored.
• Third-Party AI Services: Tab URLs, metadata, thumbnails, search queries are sent to Alibaba Cloud DashScope for AI processing only. Processed on demand; we do not control their retention.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only as necessary:

• Our Backend API: Tab URLs, titles, metadata, thumbnails, search queries, auth data (phone, code), device ID—to provide tab organization, AI search, clustering, and authentication.
• Alibaba Cloud DashScope (AI): Tab thumbnails, metadata, search queries—to generate image captions and provide semantic/visual search.
• SMS / Verification Service: Phone number—to send verification codes for login.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority.
• Business Transfers: In the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred with prior notice.

All data transmitted to our backend and third-party services is sent over HTTPS. We require service providers to process data only for the purposes we specify.

6. Data Retention

We retain your personal information only as long as necessary to provide the Service and comply with legal obligations. OpenGraph thumbnail data used for real-time AI processing is not retained after processing. Account information is retained for the duration of your account and deleted or anonymized upon account cancellation, subject to legal requirements.

7. Data Security

We implement industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. All data transmitted between the Extension and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. However, no method of transmission over the Internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your Rights

Subject to applicable law, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
• Correction: Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information.
• Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements).
• Portability: Request a machine-readable copy of your data where technically feasible.
• Objection / Restriction: Object to or request restriction of certain processing activities.

9. Children's Privacy

Tabii is not directed to children under the age of 13 (or under 14 where required by local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at hi@tabiiclean.com and we will take steps to delete such information.

10. Third-Party Links and Content

The Service may display tab titles or metadata from third-party websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of those websites. This Privacy Policy applies only to information collected by Tabii.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, legal requirements, or product features. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the Extension or via the email associated with your account. Your continued use of Tabii after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.

12. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the People's Republic of China (excluding the Hong Kong SAR, Macao SAR, and Taiwan). Any disputes arising from this Policy shall be resolved in accordance with Section 8 of the Tabii User Agreement.
